Liberal Lampson Skips Town before Important FISA vote can be taken

Political poser Slick Nick Lampson -- who's been busy of late trying to bring home the pork via various earmarks to CD22 -- was too busy to do his real job. That is, protect our country from terrorists.

After a continual blockade of the bipartisan FISA legislation last week Texas Congressmen Chet Edwards (TX-17), Nick Lampson (TX-22) and Ciro Rodriguez (TX-23) left town with their fellow liberal counterparts without reauthorizing the Protect America Act, stranding our law enforcement and potentially putting
millions of American lives in danger. House Republican leaders and the President of the United States said that they were committed to remaining in Washington until the people’s business is done. The premature departure from Washington,
D.C. of Edwards, Lampson and Rodriguez from is a strong indicator of Nancy Pelosi’s political muscle with these most liberal Texas members.

Early voting for the Texas Primary begins today. Let's be sure to elect a strong conservative to defeat Lampson come November.

Lampson gets Campaign $$ from Obama

As the Democrat Presidential campaign comes to Texas...Still think Lampson is really a nice moderate to conservative Dem? Check out his filing report -- he took $5,000 from Barrack Obama. Wonder how much Hillary will have to cough up to sway his (still undeclared) support as a Super-Delegate for the Prez nomination.....

Shut up, Tom!

BTW -- Tom says he's not endorsing anyone, but rumor has it his ARMPAC buddies are pouring $$$$ into one of the CD22 Republican candidate races. We're still getting all the details, but folks are checking out the money trail for a certain guy who lived and worked in DeeCee for years before moving to the district a short time ago just to run for this office. Hint: He likes to trot out his nine-year-old Navy whites in all his campaign literature.

We don't know about you, but we don't want Tom DeLay's Washington-insider crowd picking the next CD22 representative.

The Haircut

Friend just sent this cautionary tale...

One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he asked about his bill and the barber replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service thisweek.' The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber goes to open his shop the next morning there is a'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The cop is happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber goes to open up there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Later that day, a college professor comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The professor is very happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber opens his shop, there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen different books, such as 'How to Improve Your Business' and 'Becoming More Successful.'

Then, a Democrat Congressman comes in for a haircut, and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Congressman is very happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber goes to open up, there are a dozen Democrats lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the Democrat members of our Congress.--Vote carefully this year.

Lampson's "Superdelegate" Conundrum

Well lookie here. (Warning -- this is a Dem site supporting Obama).

If you haven't been keeping up with the presidential horserace on the Blue side of the aisle, the latest wrinkle is that neither Clinton nor Obama may have enough regular delegates by the time of their convention to be declared a clear winner. So, both camps are scrambling to lock up the so-called "Super delegates." That is, elected Democrats and state party officials who might have to decide the thing.

Of course, they'll have to decide if they support the very liberal Billary Clinton or the extreme Liberal Barrack Hussein Obama. Neither of whom are particularly appealing to the bedrock Republicans that make up most of the voters in Distrist 22.

Which brings us to our very own Congressman-in-waiting (to be defeated) Slick Nick Lampson. What will he do? He's been posing as a moderate conservative locally -- kissing babies and asses all over the district -- in an effort to save himself from impending doom. He knows he took a lot of heat for backing Comrade Nancy Pelosi for Speaker. (You know, the same bimbo who said this on the same day the news out of Iraq was this.)

Nick is probably PRAYING (as if that's allowed in the Democratic Party these days) that doesn't happen. Having to declare his undying support for either Hillary or Barrack would be one ready-made campaign issue for whomever earns the "R" spot in the race for CD22 in November.

Fort Bend Independent

Hey -- just in time for the elections... there is a new weekly newspaper being thrown on lawns in Fort Bend County. It's called the Fort Bend Independent and has an on-line version as well (click on link).

The Editor is Seshadri Kumar, who used to head up the Fort Bend Sun (which has become very thin and awfully pitiful looking these days.) A seasoned journalist, Kumar is known for being even-handed and fair. With the Sun going in the tank (it's new editor -- the third or fourth in the past year-- is an avowed liberal Democrat) and Bev "I hate Republicans" Carter still clinging to life at the Star, here's hoping this new rag gets some respect and some ad dollars. Fort Bend needs an independent news source for the masses.

Texas' arcane delegate system suddenly comes into play

....The last time the Texas Democratic convention delegation was at stake in the midst of a national fight was 1988. Michael Dukakis won the statewide primary that year but virtually split delegates evenly with Jesse Jackson because of the state's unique Democratic nominating process.
Here's a short version of the party rules, which are 11 pages long.

A total of 126 delegates will be awarded based on the outcome of the vote in each of the 31 state senatorial districts.

But the number of delegates available in each district is not equal: Delegates are allocated based on the votes cast in districts in the 2004 and 2006 presidential and gubernatorial elections.

"Texas arguably has the most arcane system in the country," state Rep. Juan Garcia, D-Corpus Christi and an Obama backer, told the Houston Chronicle in a story published Sunday. "There are a lot of people scrambling to get smart on it in a hurry."

ahhh come one.... when it comes to Democrat proposals isn't that always the case ;)
